Blu began painting the streets of his native Bologna in Italy in 1999, after which his epically scaled social and politically driven murals started appearing across the globe, each piece seeking to communicate directly with the society which it inhabits. Possessing an open-source philosophy, even his self-made videos – such as Muto, now viewed over 7 million times – are presented free of charge, his income derived solely from the sale of sketches and editioned silkscreen prints.
